South Africa’s Jean Spies has been at his consistent best in producing three gold-medal rides at the ongoing African Continental Track Cycling Championships in Cairo, Egypt, this week.
On Wednesday, Spies joined compatriots Mitch Sparrow, Josh van Wyk and Kyle Swanepoel to earn South Africa gold in the team sprint.
“That was a good ride and I rode the first time with Kyle and then Josh stepped in for the final.
“It was a really comfortable ride for us as we were consistent all the way through and were happy to pick up that gold medal.”
