Josh van Wyk survived a messy start to successfully defend his scratch race title at the African Continental Track Championships in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday.
The South African took the honours in the elite men’s section ahead of Yacine Chalel (Algeria), with teammates Kyle Swanepoel and Dillon Geary ending third and fifth respectively.
After a start which he described as “chaotic”, Van Wyk said he had to do a lot of work to stay in contention.
