I trust this mail finds you all enjoying the richest fruits of your magnificent lives.
This is a mail of great concern regarding legend of the pedal Basil Cohen, for whom your most kind thoughts, prayers, support and contact would be most greatly appreciated.
Following my visit to Basil in the Donald Gordon Hospital in Johannesburg last week, it is regrettably even more disconcertingly clear that he is extremely unwell at this time.
Basil has endured a major struggle with his health in recent years, and has been in the hospital for some weeks, undergoing the most intensive treatment possible for his condition.
Although extremely upbeat, as always, he is confined to bed, on oxygen and bravely struggling through the continued aggressive treatment he is receiving.
Basil asked me to thank all who have contacted him in support and to pass his very best wishes on to you.
I am herewith again inviting your esteemed support please, and wish to assure you that Basil would greatly appreciate a telephone call from his old cycling chums.
