The Hibiscus Coast Municipality Cycling Festival, kicking off the Autumn Series with the Margate Mayday Classic and the Hibiscus Coast Cycle Challenge, is set to take place along KwaZulu-Natal’s south coast from May 1 to 3.

Lucrative prize money and full road closure for the cycle race events will see cycling enthusiasts flocking to Margate, particularly for the Hibiscus Coast Classic on Saturday May 2, which carries a total prize purse of R45000.
The KZN Autumn Series events will be closed to UCI teams giving South Africa’s Top Clubs, non-team riders have a platform to compete on the same course that the pros will race on the following day.
Aimed at the Vets’ and Schools’ categories, the Saturday event is also open to those riders in the elite and under-23 age category not part of a UCI team or Top Club.
UCI team and Top Club riders will be permitted to participate, but the race entry fee and normal race entry process applies.
The Schools, Elite/U23 and Vets racing categories start racing at 10am until approximately 3:30pm.
Proceeds from the race will go towards donating 50 bicycles valued at R100000 for local community development as part of the KZN Cycling Development Programme.
