Britain’s Alex Dowsett became the new world hour record holder when he set a distance of 52.937 kilometres at the Manchester Velodrome in England today.
The Movistar rider beat the previous mark of 52.491km, set by Australia’s Rohan Dennis, by almost half a kilometre.
Dowsett would have attempted the record on February 27, but broke his collarbone while training and had to postpone his effort.
On his Twitter feed, he called it the #perfecthour.
