Cycling South Africa has announced the South African national team for the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships, which take place in Vallnord, Andorra, from August 31.
CSA released a squad of 12 cross-country (XCO) and five downhill (DHI) riders who have been selected according to the national body’s mountain biking selection criteria.
The line-up of elite XCO riders is newly crowned national champion James Reid, Rourke Croeser, Philip Buys, William Mokgopo and Sipho Madolo, with Mariske Strauss and Cherie Vale competing in the women’s category.
Joining them are U23 achievers Alan Hatherly and Gert Heyns as well as juniors Frances du Toit, Julian Jessop and Marco Joubert.
On the DHI side, the elite contingent comprises Greg Minnaar, Andrew Neethling, Tiaan Odendaal, Stefan Garlicki and Samuel Bull, with Jonathan Philogene and Christopher Philogene competing in the junior category.
