The UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships has been a fixture on the international racing calendar for more than two decades.
The annual races, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale, are the world championship events for cross-country, downhill, cross-country eliminator, four-cross and trials riding disciplines.
Riders represent their countries not their commercial teams and the winners in each age group don the prestigious rainbow jersey, which they are entitled to wear until the next world championships.
The first world champs were held in Durango in the United States of America in 1990. The first two events were limited to cross-country and downhill, with trials riding added in 1992 and four-cross following a decade later.
While marathon mountain biking was also included in the 2003 line-up, it got its own independent championship the following year.
The 2015 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships take place in Vallnord, Andorra.
