Three-time downhill world champion Greg Minnaar added another World Cup podium to his tally with a silver medal in Windham in the United States of America at the weekend.
Greg Minnaar, continues to make South Africa proud with his season’s success so far, and is ready to take on the final round of the UCI DHI World Cup Final in Italy next month.

Probably the world’s most successful downhiller ever, Minnaar also managed a fourth place in Mont Sainte Anne, Canada, the previous week, despite sustaining a concussion and hand injury in a crash.
“In the Windham race, my hand was not ideal and I was battling to hold the bar,” said Minnaar.
His plan was to save his hand for the final but was forced to ride hard all week in the lead-up to the final.
“You had to push it really hard in every run to sit on top of the bumps.”
Going into the race, Minnaar wasn’t feeling comfortable, especially since it was a track where he hadn’t done well previously, but was happy to take second.
“The only thing that gave me confidence is that I’m having an amazing time on my bike. My bike is fitting me well this year, I mean, everything feels right.”
Minnaar now heads for Europe where he will rest and recover before setting his sights on the final round of the World Cup series in Italy in his attempt to claim the overall title.
From there, he will turn his attention to the World Championships in Andorra.
“I’m not sure where I am in points for that but I think I might have a chance. I’m going to give it my best shot anyway.”
