MTN-Qhubeka’s Edvald Boasson Hagen finished fourth on the final stage to claim his second victory in the Tour of Britain on Sunday.
Boasson Hagen’s teammates kept control of the racing for most of the stage to protect the Norwegian rider and keep him in contention for the win.
Team Sky’s Wout Poels took the overall runner-up spot, while Wiggins’s Owain Doull rounded out the podium.
The final stage, which entered the heart of London, saw an eight-rider break that included defending champ Dylan van Baarle of Cannondale-Garmin go clear and stay away until the last 10 kilometres.
There was drama on the closing stretch as Lotto-Soudal’s André Greipel crossed the line first but was found to have crossed Elia Viviani’s line, effectively pushing him towards the barriers.
The race commissaires relegated Greipel and awarded the stage win to the Team Sky rider.
