One of South Africa’s coolest mountain bike stage races, the Storms River Traverse, has announced the signing of a three-year title sponsorship agreement with Glacier by Sanlam.
The three-day event, which will take place along the scenic Garden Route from August 6 to 8 next year, has a strong family focus.
“We are very pleased to rekindle our partnership with the Glacier Storms River Traverse,” said Glacier chief executive Anton Raath.
“Mountain biking continues to grow in popularity amongst our target market and this event provides the perfect platform for us to interact with clients and financial intermediaries alike.”
With entries limited to 250 participants, the event has an intimate atmosphere and is based at the Tsitsikamma Village Inn.
Organiser Henco Rademeyer said the event was well established after five seasons and he was looking forward to taking it forward with the financial services provider.
“While we can’t grow the numbers, we will, with Glacier by Sanlam’s support, be able to grow the quality of the experience.”
Rademeyer said the event offered something different from the serious races on the mountain biking calendar.
“We intend to build the Glacier Storms River Traverse into one that continues to appeal to the family-orientated mountain biker looking for an enriching excursion in a beautiful part of the country.”
