Current South African marathon champion Gawie Combrinck will team up with Nissan Trailseeker Series winner Nico Bell for the 2016 mountain biking season.
The Nelspruit-based friends have reunited to ride in the colours of the New Africa Developments (NAD), a company that pioneers retail property developments in South Africa.
Combrinck and Bell have set their sights on taking the African leaders’ jersey at the Absa Cape Epic.
“I am very excited to race with my long time friend on a team. It is a huge opportunity for us to showcase our talent and stake our claim in the stage racing scene in South Africa,” said Bell.
Among their targeted stage races are the sani2c, Cape Pioneer Trek and Wines2Whales.
Bell’s individual goal is a top 20 finish at marathon worlds, and he will also focus on the national marathon series races, where his teammate will be one of his major rivals.
While Bell will also concentrate on ultra marathon distances, Combrinck will be gearing up for the major stage races.
