Team Dimension Data’s Mark Cavendish will be aiming to defend his title at the Dubai Tour, which starts tomorrow.
He will be supported by teammates Mark Renshaw, Bernhard Eisel, Matt Brammeier, Nicolas Dougall, Daniel Teklehaimanot, Natnael Berhane and Songezo Jim.
The sprinters are once again expected to dominate the four-day tour, with three of the four stages almost certain to end in mass sprints.
Stage three, which features a longer uphill drag to the line, could however test the sprinters and see time gaps open up.
The weather could also be a factor with high temperatures and winds always a concern in the Middle East.
With Cavendish concentrating on a track-based programme, the general classification might be a tough ask, but he is sure to be a threat in the mass sprints.
Berhane and (Mark) Renshaw are both in good form too and will give the African team some options.
