The Origin of Trails will provide a chance for Robyn de Groot and Jennie Stenerhag to have fun while doing some decent training near Stellenbosch this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the fourth annual Origin of Trails has attracted the attention of a number of sporting celebrities, both local and from abroad.
“My goal will be to have fun and to test and fine tune my 2017 equipment,” said De Groot, who recently partnered Stenerhag to victory the Whines2Wales women’s event.
Stenerhag is looking forward to the event from a number of angles.
“Sometimes it is very important to relax and be reminded of why we ride our bikes,” says Stenerhag. “My goal is to have fun and to talk to as many riders as possible, while enjoying two really nice training rides.”
The Origin of Trails will see SA rally driver Ashley Haigh-Smith enjoy something different.
“I enjoy mountain biking because it takes me to new places,” he said. “Stellenbosch is fantastic for mountain bikers and Jonkershoek is very special”
Swiss ace and Cape Epic champion Christoph Sauser and his wife Andrea will make their Origin of Trails debut.
“We’ve only heard positive things about the event,” said Christoph, who was an Olympic mountain biking bronze medallist in Sydney in 2000.
“Stellenbosch has been my second home for many years. I am really excited to race on the trails. It’s very important to have an event that encourages riders to enjoy the route and scenery.”
