The organisers of the Cape Town Cycle Tour issued a wind warning to participants ahead of the race tomorrow.
It was announced that there was a high probability of strong winds within the next 24 hours.
In a statement on the event’s website they stated that participants uncomfortable or inexperienced riding in strong winds were urged to consider their decision to take part in the race.
The statement read that while the wind was not expected to be as strong as in 2009 when the race was eventually called off, the organisers asked that riders and spectators took note.
Earlier this week extreme winds resulted in stage four of the Bestmed Tour of Good Hope being cancelled.
