Due to a number of reasons, Cycling South Africa have taken a decision not to sanction the inaugural L’Étape du Tour South Africa, which is set to take place in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands on April 2.

However, Cycling SA have advised all cyclists that after various consultations and requests, they have not been given the required documentation, including the safety file, risk categorisation and road permissions, in time by the organisers.
“It is most unfortunate that Cycling SA are therefore unable to sanction and endorse this event,” the national body said in a statement.
“The safety of the rider remains the number one priority at sanctioned events and this decision has been made with the interest of all cyclists relating to safety as the number one priority.”
