L’Etape du Tour should go ahead within six to eight weeks, organisers of the race and Cycling South Africa said in a statement yesterday.

According to Cycling SA all factors have been discussed and considered, as well as what would be in the best interests of those that have secured an entry.
The statement read that they have received confirmation that the 21km stretch of road that is currently under repair will be completed and deemed safe for participants in an event of this nature.
They said that in the interim, the parties will be looking at alternative routes in the area, should there be any further delays due to unforeseen circumstances in the repair of the stretch of road.
Cycling SA once again re-iterates that they have confirmed their commitment to the event and will assist where they can to ensure a successful and premier event is delivered.
A confirmation of the date will be advised shortly.
