Below are the results for the SA National Omnium Championships that took place at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town yesterday.
This year’s Omnium consisted of four events – the scratch, tempo, elimination and points races – in one day.
In the elite men’s section, David Maree won the scratch and tempo numbers to top the overall standings on 149 points. After a slow start, Nolan Hoffman scored well in the final two events to seal second place with 130 points.
Gert Fouche was third with 111 points.
Bernette Beyers dominated throughout to top the women’s standings on 170 points ahead of Elfriede Wolfaardt (120) and Ilze Bole (112).
Rickardo Broxham took the title in the junior men’s section with Matthew Fortuin and Martin van Wyk winning the U17 boys’ and master men’s categories respectively.
