Rohan Dennis set the time to beat on the opening time trial stage of the Tour de Suisse, which took place in Cham in Switzerland today.
Dennis, for BMC Racing, was the first rider of the day to reach the midway point of the course in under three minutes.
Tom Dumoulin set the second fastest time, riding soon after Dennis, as he finished nine seconds slower.
However, the Sunweb rider was slower soon knocked down in the rankings and eventually finished fifth.
Stefan Küng made it one-two for BCM as he finished eight seconds behind his Australian teammate.
Matthias Brändle for Trek-Segafredo followed one second later to complete the top three.
