The first day of the Wines2Whales Adventure took riders on a 68km journey from Lourensford Wine Estate to Oak Valley Wine Estate. It presented riders with clear skies and magical views of Stellenbosch and Cape Town. The stage had some singletrack sections that tested riders’ technical skills. The iconic points on the route were the Lourensford and Vergelegen climbs, Peri Vergelegen bridge, portage over Gantouw Pass and A2Z singletracks.
The second day of the Adventure was a ‘play day’. Riders set out from Oak Valley Estate and enjoyed a fast, undulating first 25km. From there they climbed into Paul Cluver where they got to enjoy gravel roads and single track, which led them to the playpark. After enjoying three storey’s of fun, riders tackled the fast and easy flowing home stretch to Oak Valley.
The final stage took riders on a 71km route from Oak Valley to the Onrun Caravan Park. Riders bid farewell to the winelands as they headed towards the coast via gravel, jeep tracks, single tracks and pallet beach crossings.
