The La Couronne Wine Farm in Franschhoek is geared up to provide a warm welcome to the finishers of the TransCape mountain bike event when the seven-day journey comes to a conclusion on February 10.
Having been involved with the annual 614km adventure through the Western Cape since the start in 2015, La Couronne general manager Eldorette Carinus said they were again looking forward to providing a memorable finish venue.
“I got very involved with the initial planning with Lenore and it was exciting to be part of this very special mountain bike race,” she said.
In a change from this year when the race ended at the top of Franschhoek Pass, Carinus said the final stage would end with a scenic section through the farm’s vineyards.
“We will be offering great food and wine and there will be a relaxing atmosphere and festive celebrations,” she said.
Carinus said wine-lovers among the riders would again be able to enjoy a variety of options at the end of each stage.
“We will have a number of new vintages for riders to taste throughout the week and plans are also in place to make the finish venue a lot bigger.”
ASG Events chief executive Wynand de Villiers said La Couronne were much more than just the finish venue.
“The event is all about relationships and that’s what makes the finish such a highlight,” he said. “It’s about the people and how they make every finisher feel special.
“Eldorette also rides in the event annually and understands the values and message we portray through TransCape.”
