Daryl Impey soloed to victory at the 947 Cycle Challenge after he dropped the leaders in the final kilometres of the 95km race, which started and finished at the Riversands Commercial Park in Fourways today.
The Orica–Scott rider was part of a five-man breakaway that formed after roughly 60km. The five continued to work together until Steyn City, where Impey put the hammer down and dropped the leaders. He crossed the line ahead of Calvin Beneke and Eddie van Heerden.
Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio made the most of her climbing abilities as she broke away from the leading women on the Cedar Hill climb to secure victory.
Her well-times attacked saw her race to her fourth victory as she crossed the line in 2:35:55, ahead of Vita Heine and Christa Riffel.
