The organisers of the seven-day Cape Pioneer Trek have added a four-day ride, the Cape Pioneer Trek Adventure, to the annual mountain-bike event.
The new race, to be held from George to Oudtshoorn in October next year, will be about 280km long.

It will offer riders nearly 60 per cent of the almost 496km-long Cape Pioneer Trek, which will run from October 14 to 20. The four-day option begins on October 17.
Race director Henco Rademeyer said the Cape Pioneer Trek Adventure was the perfect step up from two or three-day events to longer stage races.
“We realise seven days can be intimidating. Therefore we have introduced this race to riders who would otherwise feel they cannot complete the full distance.
“We know that once they have ridden the Adventure, they will realise the full Cape Pioneer Trek is within their reach,” said Rademeyer.
The route will take riders from the single-track sections of the George forest to the finish in Oudtshoorn on October 20.
