BCX’s Chris Jooste won stage two of the Mpumalanga Tour which took cyclists on a 135km journey from Swadini to Mount Sheba today.
Jooste, who rode for BCX for the first time, became the second rider in the team to win a stage after teammate Clint Hendricks sprinted to stage one victory yesterday.
Luso’s Calvin Beneke finished the final bunch sprint in second, with MyVelo’s Eddie van Heerden rounding out the podium.

ProTouch’s Reynard Butler and Office Guru pair, Alwyn Steenkamp and Alexander Worsdale, took the initial lead at the first hot spot 29km in.
Butler, BCX’s Brandon Downes, NAD’s Matt Beers, Sampada’s Jan Montshioa and Thokozani Mahlangu then took the lead after the first climb approximately 65km in.
Beers then took the lead on the descent, but after slowing down, Office Guru’s Ryan Harris, BCX’s Hendricks and NAD’s Nico Bell caught up with the bunch to take the overall lead at the second hot spot 89km in.
Harris managed to hold his lead, but he was also joined in front by Randwater-Transnet’s Luthando Kaka and Beneke at the third hot spot 106km in.
With just 15km to go, 11 riders then formed a breakaway bunch to take the lead.
Beers, Beneke, Jooste, Eddie van Heerden, NAD’s Nico Bell, ProTouch’s Jayde Julius, Namibian Cycling’s Tristan de Lange, Luso’s Andrew Edwards and NAD’s Wessel Botha all then broke away with one kilometre to go.
Jooste then came out on top in the final sprint.
