Alan Gordon and Timothy Hammond won the men’s team race on the first stage of the Knysna Bull in Rheenendal today.

The Insect Science duo completed the 73km stage in 2:33:14 to beat Robert Hobson and Erik Kleinhans (Canyon Topeak/ETW). Aidan Connelly and Rogan Smart (Bike Shop-Scott-Strocam) finished third.
Jennie Stenerhag and Craig Gerber of Cape Brewing Company won the mixed category in 2:48:57. Second were Jeannie Dreyer and Martin Dreyer (Team Merchants) with Nicky Giliomee and Tony Haralambous (Crank and Crankier) in third.
Brenda-Lynn Nell and Karen Fannin (Muffin Mate Ladies) led the women’s race home in 3:29:41.
Dylan Rebello claimed the victory in the solo men’s event in 2:32:53 to beat Robert Sim and Martin Cilliers.
The solo women’s race was won by Theresa Ralph in 3:11:24, followed by Nickey Botes and Laura Muller.
Gordon and Hammond lead the men’s team general classification in 2:45:30. Hobson and Kleinhans lies second with Connelly and Smart in third.
Stenerhag and Gerber hold the lead in the mixed category’s overall standings (3:02:26), with the Dreyer pair in second and Giliomee and Haralambous in third.
Nell and Fannin are on top of the women’s team standings with a total time of 3:49:05.
Rebello (2:32:53) is ahead of Sim and Cilliers in the solo men’s general classification.
Ralph (3:25:34) holds the leader’s jersey in the solo women’s standings, with Botes and Muller in second and third.
