Eritrean Natnael Mebrahtom soloed to victory in the first 92km stage of the under-23 Tour de L’espoir in Douala, Cameroon, yesterday.
Mebrahtom finished the race in 2:25:24, beating compatriot Zemenfes Selemun and Moroccan El Mehdi Chokri in second and third respectively.

South African Louis Visser beat Rwandan and Tropicale Amissa Bongo champion Joseph Areruya in a sprint to finish fourth.
Fellow South Africans Aidan van Niekerk finished in 13th, Daniyal Matthews 39th, Mornay van Heerden 42nd, Carl Bonthuys 44th and Joshua Francis 60th.
