Katusha-Alpecin’s Nathan Haas won the 167.5km second stage of the Tour of Oman, which took place between Al Khoudh and Al Bustan today.
The Australian won in 4:22:15 after a string of attacks on a hilly final stretch, beating BMC Racing’s Greg van Avermaet (Belgium) and Astana’s Alexey Lutsenko (Kazakhstan) into second and third respectively.

Courtesy of time bonuses, Haas now takes the leader’s jersey of the six-stage race. He is currently four seconds ahead of Van Avermaet and six ahead of Lutsenko.
Team DiData’s Merhawi Kudus is currently fourth in the general classification after finishing fifth in stage two.
“I’m happy with today’s result and the team did an amazing job,” Kudus said after the race. “We were under a lot of pressure in the first half of the race.
“But the team supported me well on the first two big climbs, which made it easier for me in the last climb.
“I was in good condition for the sprint [at the end]. I’m looking forward to the following stages.”
