Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas won the third stage 20.3km individual time-trial of the Volta ao Algarve in Lagoa, Portugal, today.
The Briton tightened his grip on the leader’s jersey, completing the route in 24:09. He beat Lotto Soudal’s Victor Campenaerts (Belgium) by 11 seconds and BMC Racing’s Stefan Küng (Switzerland) by 19. Team Sky had four riders in the top 10.

DiData’s Ben King (USA) was the 30th fastest rider to complete the test, Edvald Boasson Hagen (Norway) 35th, Louis Meintjes (South Africa) 49th, Igor Anton (Spain) 61st, Johann van Zyl (South Africa) 69th, Serge Pauwels (Belgium) 73rd and Scott Thwaites (Britain) 85th.
