Investec-Songo-Specialized’s Annika Langvad and Kate Courtney edged closer to the overall Cape Epic title, with yet another dominant display on stage six in Wellington today.

The pair stayed in front for most of the stage and looked to have had a near-perfect ride, beating the second-placed Ascendis Health’s Sabine Spitz and Robyn de Groot by a comfortable five-minute margin.
Silverback-KMC’s Mariske Strauss and Annie Last, who were second on the general classification heading into today’s stage, dropped back and lost several minutes off the pace due to the South African suffering from a stomach bug. The pair ended up finishing in sixth.
That ensured for Langvad and Courtney to increase their ever-growing lead even more. PMRA/CST Racing’s Margot Moschetti and Ralza Goulao, who were sixth overall before today, finished third in the stage.
If all goes according to plan for Langvad and Courtney, the Dane and American are almost ascertained for the overall title when the final stage finishes at Val de Vie tomorrow.
South Africa’s Team dormakaba SA – Candice Lill and Amy McDougall – finished in fourth today and look set to win the African’s jersey ahead of the final stage.
