Team Dimension Data’s Scott Thwaites had an accident while on a training ride and had sustained several fractures to his vertebral column, his team announced today.

“Fortunately there were no neurological injuries,” the team statement said.
“He underwent successful spine stabilisation surgery on Tuesday night, without complication.”
The team said the Briton is currently stable and should be discharged in the next few days. “We are continuing to monitor Scott’s condition closely.”
