Alan Hatherly is ready for the Commonwealth Games cross-country cycling event in Australia on April 12 after recovering from a wrist injury.
Hatherly injured his right wrist when he crashed out of the Tankwa Trek race over a month ago. It forced him to withdraw from the UCI mountain-bike World Cup race in Stellenbosch a few weeks later.

The Team Spur rider made a good return when he won the second SA MTB XCO Cup Series in Johannesburg last weekend.
“My wrist started to stiffen up in the last ten minutes of the race but that was a week ago,” Hatherly said today. “By the twelfth of April I should be back to full speed.”
He explained that he had entered the SA XCO Cup race slightly fatigued after intense training to be fit for the Commonwealth Games.
“But I was happy with my performance ahead of the big one,” said Hatherly, who finished second in the under-23 category at the mountain-bike world championships in Australia last year.
Discussing his preparations for the Games he said: “With everything focused on a one-day event, the final build-up and the tapering are vital.
“I have to tie everything together so I can peak on a specific day and be as fast as possible.”
