Quick-Step Floors’ Maximilian Schachmann won the 196km 18th stage of the Giro d’Italia at Prato Nevoso today.
The German won the race in a three-man sprint up the Prato Nevoso summit, beating Israel Cycling Academy’s Ruben Plaza and Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec’s Mattia Cattaneo in a three-man sprint. He completed the stage in 4:55:42.

Mitchelton-Scott’s Simon Yates (Britain) retained his race lead, but it was halved to 28 seconds ahead of Team Sunweb’s Tom Dumoulin (Netherlands). Yates’ total time is 75:06:24 ahead of the final three stages.
