Amy McDougall has officially joined Team dormakaba SA, the team announced yesterday.
McDougall recently won the Cape Epic African title alongside teammate Candice Lill, who was also part of dormakaba before she decided to leave and further her career overseas a month ago.

McDougall now fills that void, while also joining the likes of Samantha Sanders with whom she became well acquainted in the past.
“Racing with Candice and the rest of the team at the Epic was great,” McDougall said. “I was already friends with her and Samantha, who was my Valencia teammate for the four years I was there.
“Everybody was really welcoming [at the Cape Epic]. The Epic provided the perfect foundation for Shaun [Frayne] to approach me to join the team on a full-time basis.”
McDougall, who first officially raced in dormakaba colours when she won the mixed title of the joBerg2c alongside Arno du Toit last week, said she was looking forward to gaining inspiration from the team.
“The team has such a wonderful energy that it really inspires all of us to do well,” she said. “Shaun gets super excited about our racing which motivates and rubs off on us.
“He goes the extra mile to make sure we are comfortable.”
McDougall and Sanders will turn their focus to stage racing under the dormakaba banner. According to what her schedule looked like, McDougall said she would also like to take part in cross-country races as well as potentially make some overseas trips.
