Daniel Martin claimed victory on stage five of the Criterium du Dauphine that finished in Valmorel today.

The UAE Team Emirates rider completed the 130.5km course, which started in Grenoble, in a time of 3:21:19.
Second place went to Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas, with Mitchelton-Scott’s Adam Yates in third.
“It was just the circumstances and being in a new team. It’s just a learning process. I’m happy,” said Martin.
“I’ve finished second in so many stages at the Dauphine before and at the Tour de France, so many second places. I haven’t won many races so to get the victory is very special,” said Martin.
Thomas also leads overall, while BMC Racing Team’s Damiano Caruso and Team Sky’s Gianni Moscon takes second and third respectively.
