Quick-Step Floors’ Julian Alaphilippe sprinted to victory on the 181km fourth stage of the Criterium du Dauphine in Lans-en-Vercors today.
The Frenchman beat UAE Team Emirates’ Daniel Martin (Ireland) and Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas (Britain) in the final sprint.

After finishing the stage in ninth among a select chasing group, Team Sky’s Gianni Moscon (Italy) took the race lead and leadfrogged teammate Michal Kwiatkowski (Poland), with Thomas is currently in third.
“Im super happy. The Dauphine is very high-level race and all the riders are in top shape,” said Alaphilippe afterwards.
“The feelings were a bit weird after not racing for so long, but we know why we’re here and we’re extremely motivated for the tour.
“I’m going to try and help Bob [Jungels] until Sunday, but I’m not going to give up anything myself either.”
