This year’s Tour of Ara, from September 1 to 6, will be the last time the six-stage race is held, founder Stan Engelbrecht announced today.

The tour, a mountain-bike race extending a total distance of 640km near the west coast of the Western Cape, has been running since 2014.
“I have decided to make this the final year because I simply want to work on some new projects,” Engelbrecht said.
“I think five years is a great run for the tour. We have made some incredible friends out there and created beautiful memories on those Karoo plains.
“But nothing lasts forever. I have some interesting new ideas I am developing,” he added.
The race was won last year by Mpho Moloi with a final general classification time of 36:26:46.
