Wimpie Sander is currently leading The 1000 Miler, a 1 510km race, which started at the Riverside Sun hotel in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, on Saturday, and will finish up in Bloubergstrand, Cape Town.
Sander has currently ridden 1 218.2km, a whole 160km more than the second-placed Dawn Bell. Gary van der Merwe is closely following in third.

With just less than 300km remaining and after having ridden for four days, eight hours and 48 minutes, Sander would hopefully be in pursuit of the race record, set by Sarah van Heerden and Cindy Theunissen last year in a time of five days, 11 hours and 52 minutes.
