Wimpie Sander won The 1000 Miler and broke a new record when he completed the 1 510km journey from the Riverside Sun hotel in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, to Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, today.
Sander finished the gruelling race in five days, seven hours and 18 minutes; beating the previous record by almost five hours.

Sarah van Heerden and Cindy Theunissen set the previous record last year in five days, 11 hours and 52 minutes.
John Loos is currently riding in second, having covered 1 286.8km, with Dave and Dawn Bell closely following.
