Tour de France results & GC: Fernando Gaviria takes opening stage

Colombian Fernando Gaviria won the opening stage of this year’s Tour de France in Fontenay-Le-Comte today.

The Quick-Step Floors rider completed the 201km course, which started in Noirmoutier-En-L’Ïle in a time of 4:23:32.

Bora-Hansgrohe’s Peter Sagan took second place, with Katusha-Alpecin’s Marcel Kittel in third.

Fourth place went to UAE Team Emirates’ Alexander Kristoff, while Cofidis, Solutions Credits’ Christophe Laporte claimed fifth.

Gaviria also takes the first yellow jersey of the 105th race. Sagan is placed second overall, with Kittel in third.
