Switzerland’s Nino Schurter and Poland’s Maja Wloszczowska won the respective elite men’s and women’s cross-country race at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Val di Sole, Italy, yesterday.
Schurter completed the course in 1:26:32, edging Italy’s Gerhard Kerschbaumer into second. Netherland’s Mathieu van der Poel completed the podium.

Wloszczowska won the women’s race in 1:30:51, beating Canada’s Emily Batty and Switzerland’s Jolanda Neff into second and third respectively.
South Africa’s Cherie Redecker and Mariske Strauss finished 24th and 33rd respectively.
