South Africa’s Pieter du Preez placed second in the men’s H1 time-trial at the Para-cycling Road World Championships in Maniago, Italy, yesterday.
Du Preez, who won the road race at last year’s champs in KwaZulu-Natal, finished the 13.6km course in a time of 31:27.

The winner was Italy’s Fabrizio Cornegliani, who finished in 31:11. Third place went to Switzerland’s Benjamin Fruh.
