Italian Francesco Gavazzi won the opening stage of the Vuelta a Burgos at Alto del Castillo yesterday.
The Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec rider completed the 157km route in a time of 3:48:30, beating Pello Bilbao (Astana) and Alex Aranburu (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) into second and third respectively.
