William Kelly and Thulani Gule won the 59.6km opening stage of the Swazi Frontier mountain-bike race in Swaziland yesterday.
The Mormond Faka Fire pair completed the race in 3:58:26, comfortably beating Martin Buck and Kevin Record by some 47 minutes. Sifiso Mhlanga and Rudolf Pretorius rounded out the podium.

Retha Harding and Nadine Stein won the women’s team race in 4:54:40, finishing fourth overall. Bonny Swanepoel and Kathy Rees came home in second and Rebecca Sands and Michelle Zuich third.
Gavin Harvey and Caryn Harvey took the spoils in the mixed race in 5:44:14, beating Brett Stephen and Megan Stephen into second. Oscar Koster and Mireille Koster completed the podium.
