Jason Reed and Lara-Ann van de Venter were the respective men’s and women’s winners at the Thomas River MTB Challenge in Cathcart at the weekend.
Reed won the 60km feature race in a time of 2:28:34. Jason Peach finished second in 2:32:32, with Donovan O’ Reilly third in 2:37:01.

Mike Pedersen-Horn placed fourth, with Francois du Plessis in fifth.
Van de Venter completed her race in 3:14:27 and was followed home by Liesel Prentis and Shannon Kirkhoff, who finished in 3:31:45 and 4:06:15 respectively.
Kenny Dewing won the 40km men’s race, with Sabro Atakligan in second and Greg Vincent third.
The women’s race was won by Ingrid Krummeck, while second and third went to Sophia Warren and Nina Chambers.
