South Africa’s Morne van Niekerk will join the French-based St Michel-Auber93 professional Continental team in 2019, French newspaper Le Parisien announced yesterday.
Van Niekerk has had a highly successful season with French-based amateur team, Sud Ouest Cycliste Formation-Team Christian Magimel, since joining them at the start of this year.
Last year he rode for Martigues SC, also a French-based team.

The 23-year-old managed to rack up five wins for Sud Ouest Cycliste Formation this season.
He won two rounds of the Coupe de France DN3 – the Tour of the Community of Agglomeration Saint-Avold Synergie and Tomato Souvenir Grand Prix Vérardo – the Route d’Or du Poitou, Souvenir Rousse-Perrin as well as the Grand Prix de Montamisé.
The South African also claimed a few podium positions, including second-place finishes at the Tour du Pays Roannais and the Essor Trophy and third at the Trophée des Champions just two weeks ago.
Van Niekerk also specialises in track racing and finished third in the 25-mile race at the Paarl Boxing Day event in the off-season.
Last month one of Van Niekerk’s local friends, Bradley Gouveris, announced that he would link up with Sud-Ouest Cyclisme Formation next year, with hopes that they would race alongside one another.
