The 947 Cycle Challenge forms part of South Africa’s “big three” one-day road classics every season and took place in Johannesburg today.
The event this year saw the 94.7km route flip around, which meant cyclists tackled the “infamous” cluster of climbs over the first 10km of the race as opposed to the final 10km as in previous editions.
BCX’s Brandon Downes won the men’s race, while Demacon’s Carla Oberholzer took the spoils in the women’s category.
