South Africa’s Joshua van Wyk won the gold medal in the elite men’s points race at the African Track Continental Championships in Pietermaritzburg today.
Moroccan Othman Harakat grabbed silver with the bronze medal claimed by Algerian Yacine Chalel.

Egypt’s Ebtissam Zayed (26) won the elite women’s race ahead of South Africa’s Ilze Bole (19) and Elfriede Wolfaardt (12).
Tiano Da Silva (South Africa) was crowned the junior men’s champion when he finished with 24 points. Fellow countrymen Matthew Fortuin (23) and Keagan van Wyk (14) rounded out the podium.
South African Mischka Strydom (25) took the junior women’s victory, beating Nigerian Mary Sunday Samuel (20) and compatriot Andrea de Waal (15).
