South Africa’s Alan Hatherly came third in the elite men’s race at the second round of the SA MTB Cup Series XCO event in Bellville, Western Cape, today.
Hatherly, who finished fifth at round one yesterday, finished the seven-lap race in 1:22:45, while Brazilian Henrique Avancini (1:21:50) won the event ahead of New Zealander Sam Gaze (1:22:23).

SA’s Mariske Strauss also came third in the elite women’s race. English professional Annie Last took the victory in 1:26:18 and was followed by Kathrin Stirnemann (1:26:48).
