Strauss and Stenerhag’s stage win resulted in them taking over the pink jersey from Terpstra and Benko.

Results for the men’s race were pending long after riders crossed the finish line due to a wrong turn taken by Team Bulls’ Urs Huber and Simon Stiebjahn, as well as Pyga Euro Steel’s Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes into the finish.

Commissaires had to decide whether the teams who crossed the line first indeed went wrong or if Team Bulls, who came in celebrating, stayed on the right track with Pyga Euro Steel in close pursuit.

Deon Steyn, the UCI appointed President of the Commissaire Panel, ultimately said the results would remain the same as the finish line positions.

“I have gone to see the site where the incident took place and could find no fault with the route markings.”

Final stage results saw Cannondale Factory Racing’s Manuel Fumic and Henrique Avancini win and remain overall leaders.

Second were Cannondale Factory Racing’s Maxine Marotte and Orr Cameron, followed by Team Denmark’s Jonas Lindberg and Simon Andreassen.
