Delko Marseille Provence’s Alessandro Fedeli sprinted to victory in the 111.8km opening stage of the Tour du Rwanda in Kigali today.
The Italian completed the race in 2:41:32, beating Eritrea’s Yakob Debesay and teammate Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz to the line.

South Africa’s Rohan du Plooy, of ProTouch, claimed maximum points in the KOM classification and will start stage two in the red mountain’s jersey. Calvin Beneke was the highest-placed SA rider on the stage, finishing 31st.
