Damien Ingram and Stuart Cathcart won the opening stage of the TransCape MTB Encounter in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, today.
The Australian pair finished the 78km stage from George in 3:35:20 to beat Zbigniew Wizner and Pawel Gaca (3:39:39). Third were Marco Finazzi and Giulio Dino Lodovico (3:39:43).

Udo Mueller topped the solo men’s category when he finished in 3:24:50, beating Jan Braai (3:27:26) and Stefan Hackl (3:33:20).
Wanda and Jacques Tattersall (4:16:53) took the spoils in the mixed event. Second were Ivan Hull and Riana Noort (5:11:50) with Karen Fannin and Brenda-Lynn Nell (5:29:59) rounding out the podium.
